Imperial Research Prop firm challenge

Prop firm challenge: how many losses can you afford?

You pay a fee, trade a simulated account under strict loss limits, and if you reach the target without breaking a rule you trade the firm's capital for a share of the profit. The rules decide everything, so do the arithmetic first.

Questions

What is a prop firm challenge?

A paid evaluation. You trade a simulated account and must reach a profit target without hitting the daily loss limit or the maximum drawdown. Pass and you get a funded account with a profit split; fail and the fee is gone.

What is a trailing drawdown?

A loss limit that rises with your highest balance. On a $20,000 account with a 6% trailing limit, the floor starts at $18,800 and moves up as the account grows, so profit you give back counts against you.

How much should I risk per trade in a challenge?

Small enough to survive a losing streak. With a 5% daily limit and 0.5% risk per trade, you can lose ten in a row before the daily limit; at 2% risk, only two.

Is a free challenge worth it?

Yes, to learn how the rules feel. BrightFunded offers a free $1,000 challenge and SabioTrade a free 7-day trial account (both as of 31 Oct 2026).
